Why It’s Important to Understand the Difference Between UVA and UVB
We all enjoy the sunshine, but UV rays can be tough on our skin. To protect your skin properly, it helps to know the two main types: UVA and UVB.

Think of UVA as the “silent skin ager.”
Goes deep into the skin and breaks down collagen and elastin
Causes wrinkles, sagging, and dark spots
It’s around all year, in every season
Even comes through windows, so you’re exposed indoors too
UVB is the ray that gives you sunburn.
Damages the top layer of your skin → redness and painful burns
Stronger in summer and at high altitudes
Can cause damage in a short time
Linked to both skin cancer and faster skin aging
SPF = protects against UVB (the burning rays)
SPF 30 → about 30 times more protection
SPF 50+ → even stronger protection
PA = protects against UVA (the aging rays)
More “+” signs = stronger protection (e.g., PA++++ is best)
Sunscreen isn’t just part of a beauty routine—it’s a daily essential for healthy skin.
Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen (blocks both UVA & UVB), and remember:
Apply enough product
Reapply every 3–4 hours
Always reapply after sweating or swimming
Taking these small steps helps keep your skin protected, youthful, and healthy every day.
